UPDATE | Kimberley water trickling back─── 19:09 Sun, 11 Sep 2022

Kimberley residents are requested to open taps slowly to release air to avoid bursts.
This follows after the Sol Plaatje Local Municipality announced that areas receiving water directly from the bulk lines (Roodepan and some parts of Galeshewe) will start receiving water after supply was cut at the start of the weekend due to a pipe burst.
Spokesperson, Thoko Riet, says it’s all systems go in Riverton, “We have now started the third pump”.
She adds Newton will be opened as soon as water reaches the reservoir.
Earlier on Sunday, Riet said that repair work was completed at Midstation and teams have opened the valves.
"We are at a stage where we are filling up the network, which means water will be restored later this evening.
"Levels at the Newton reservoir are slightly low as a result of the operation that was undertaken. The municipality will embark on a nightly shutdown from tomorrow in order to raise the water levels at the reservoir which will be from 20:00pm - 04:00am."

Riet reported earlier that the damaged piece of pipe had to be cut off, and as a result, water flow was stopped.
“We want to take this opportunity to thank the residents for their patience and understanding,” Riet concluded.
